I just won this coin in an eBay auction and couldn't wait to receive it. Not only was it in good condition, I liked the clash on the obverse and reverse. Well, I picked it up from my mail box in town the other day and was sorely disappointed. The more I examined it, the more I thought I was sent the wrong coin. I'm pretty lousy at photographing coins but will include my photos and then the auction photos. It did turn out to be the correct coin so you can see how much a well photographed coin can add to the eye appeal. I got it for under $50.
There are other threads on CoinTalk discussing the problem coins coming from this company. I stay far away from them.
I think the photos of this guys coins are doctored. Your coin looks cleaned. Does it look like that in hand?
Wow..... That sure does look like some deceptive photography. I would have been greatly disappointed myself. Sorry that happened to you.
You need better photos. I honestly thought they were two different coins, but without better pics, hard to say one way or the other. Some of the hits do line up, but others appear not to... Either way, the auction pics flash a few warning signs for me.
Return it open a case at ebay not as described. You want a full refund inclulding postage both ways. Open the case so others can see that this dealer has issues. The coin pictured isn't the coin sent they used an stock photo or juiced photo. And I still can't believe this dealer is still in business or any serious collector buy from them......it's understood that the op had no idea about this seller. When ever you buy from this company it's a crap shoot! Known for years as selling problem coins.
+1 the photographed listing shows a coin that has been cleaned. I agree that the photos were doctored.
I bought an uncirculated Cleveland commem half dollar from them that ended up grading MS64 when I sent it in. I got lucky, but I wouldn't press my luck.
Every single coming from them always looks cleaned. Even their own photos look that way. I swear they buy cleaned coins (which are never already slabbed) and then market them as straight-gradeable. I never have nor will buy from them
Thanks all for your input. For those wanting better photos; sorry, I can't take good photos and admit it. In hand, under really good light conditions and with a loop, it is the same coin and does not appear to have been cleaned.
Well it still be returned if mine ...no way no matter how bad your images are....theirs were juiced !
