Good question. The Krause lists it for $1600 in unc but this example obviously isn't unc. Most moderns don't get a lot of demand in XF but this one is an exception since the demand for uncs is well above their availability and unlike most moderns these are tough in XF as well. It lists for $400 in XF. This coin has enough wear that it would likely grade only VF where the price drops to $40 but in this grade I suspect this price is optimistic. There isn't the demand for these that there is for silver coinage and these are quite scarce in decent condition. They were made to circulate and they did... ...heavily.
I agree with Cladking. In that condition the '55 G coin is worth about 2 euros (3$). In good VF about $20. Only the very top grades are worth what the catalogue says. These were relatively common in pocket change until about 1990. I found a few 55 G's and 54 G's in loose change. Maybe they will be worth a little more in 50 years....
Ah so a mark was a German unit of currency. Neat coin cybertack. Not too long ago my grandfather showed me a 20 Million Mark note that he found in Germany after WWII.
I have the same german deutsche mark from 1950 it is from the G factory being one of the 4 from that time. It is in uncirculated condition. I also have an assortment of other german coins from around that time. I have 2 (50 pfennig pieces from factory D) (one from 1966) (one from 1978) 1 (50 pfennig piece from Factory J from 1950) 1 (50 pfennig piece from Factory F from 1970) I have a (2 deutsche mark from Factory F from 1974) All coins above this line are in uncirculated condition . All coins below this line are a little worn but still in good condition I have 2 (10 Pfennig pieces one from D from 1950 one from J from 1976 I have 3 (5 pfennig pieces one from F from 1950 one from D from 1977 one from G from 1950 and finally a single 1 pfennig from 1980 from factory D IF anyone knows the value of any of these coins, I just wanted to see how much they were worth.
