Nice one! The portrait style on many of Postumus' coins is fantastic. A few of those have accumulated in my collection over time, but I am still actively looking out for a Rhenus Pater (river god of the Rhine) and a nice Hercules Deusoniensis reverse. Your Moneta reverse definitely beats mine: Postumus, Gallic Roman Empire, AR antoninian, 262–266 AD, Trier mint. Obv: IMP C POSTVMVS P F AVG; bust of Postumus, radiate, draped, cuirassed, r. Postumus, Gallic Roman Empire, AR antoninian, 263 AD, Trier mint. Obv: IMP C POSTVMVS P F AVG; bust of Postumus, radiate, draped, cuirassed, r. Can you guess why I got two coins of this type? (Clue: look closely at the reverse.) Postumus, Gallic Roman Empire, AR antoninian, 266–267 AD, Trier mint. Obv: IMP C POSTVMVS P F AVG; bust of Postumus, radiate, draped, cuirassed, Rev: SAECVLI FELICITAS; Postumus, draped, cuirassed, standing r., holding spear in r. hand and globe in l. hand. 21mm, 4.31g. I've always liked his coins, good value for money! ...Some great examples being shown here...I bought this coin because of its toning... Nice pickup, Om Nom! Many excellent portraits are shown in this thread . @Alegandron, I'm still a little green about how nice that Oriens cleaned up in the expert hand of @YOC! A couple of mine:
yeah, I was amazed. He did an awesome job. before: RI Postumus 259-268 CE Antoninianus Cologne Oriens GREEN
Nice one @ominus1 , your Moneta reverse is in much better shape than mine. Postumus, Antoninianus, (3.32g, 22mm). Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust right / Moneta standing left, holding scales and cornucopia. RIC V 75.
Nice reverse, great portrait, nice new addition @ominus1! I've got a couple of the Santa's long lost brother:
Here's my Serapis type. Interesting that a Greco-Egyptian god would be featured on coin from Western Europe just showing how far the cult had spread. Obverse: IMP C POSTVMVS PF AVG Radiate, draped, cuirassed but right Reverse: SERAPI COMITI AVG Serapis standing left, raising hand and holding sceptre Year: 267 C.E. Reference: RSC 360a, Sear 10991 Mint: Trier
Great looking coins, everybody. I've accumulated several Postumii over the past 2 years - with some rather dramatic differences in appearance based on silver content, or lack thereof: Moneta reverse - Minerva reverse - fairly ugly, but fairly scarce. Rhine River reverse - Aesclepius and his staff reverse - Salus - Hercules -

Obv: Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Postumus right Rev: Virtus advancing right, holding round shield and transverse spear "While affairs were thus situated in the east, intelligence was brought to Gallienus, who was then occupied in the Scythian war, that Aurelian or Aureolus, who was commander of the cavalry posted in the neighborhood of Milan to watch the motions of Postumus, had formed some new design, and was ambitious to be emperor. Being alarmed at this he went immediately to Italy, leaving the command against the Scythians with Marcianus, a person of great experience in military affairs." -Zosimus NH 1.40.1
