I came across this Washington quarter and realized it appeared to have some major errors. The 1 in the date is missing, and a line going the the 9. The words, "In God We Trust," are almost completely missing. Part of the 'T' in liberty is partially imprinted while the 'Y' is nowhere to be found. Also some possible double-die going on obverse, but that could just be my imagination getting the best of me and/or improper lighting.
Interesting. I'm leaning towards a defective planchet and grease but not an expert in that area. Maybe @paddyman98 or one of the other error expects can give you an opinion. BTW welcome to CT.
Sweet! The date is fantastic! Never seen one sooo....gone! That "1" definitely got kidnapped by some grease or something!
Do you guys have any idea of the rarity of such a coin? Value? Would it be worth getting graded? Should I hold onto it or just post it on ebay and hope for the best? My knowledge is limited in this area. I've seen grease errors before but never to this degree.
What's the rarity of the coin? Have you seen one with so many errors before? And in your professional opinion is it worth sending in to be graded?
I'm not a professional,But I wouldn't send it in. The coin has some good circulation wear. In my opinion it would cost a lot more to get it graded than what it's worth.
