Good job, @Santinidollar . That's the sweet spot for the 1907 IHE. A carefully selected MS62 is payable and shows good eye appeal. Well done
Mike at ToughCoins nabbed this for me at the Baltimore show. Lowest mintage Liberty double eagle of the 20th Century.
Great color! I like just a little circulation on early US gold, it adds a little mystique to the piece, imo. Im a little biased, being in love with the time period!
Just curious...does anybody here have any self-imposed limits on the PREMIUM to gold bullion that you will pay for a coin based on financial or numismatic (investment potential) reasons ? 200% ? 500% ? 1,000% ?
Only from a risk-management point of view (not putting too many eggs in one basket). But if someone offers me, say, a 1921 Saint in AU for just 1000% over gold bullion, I'm going to find a way to make it work.
It all depends on the coin. I do not collect for investment/ just for fun. Here is a Roman one.... AV Aureus ND Ticinum Mint 5.64g. 20mm. 2 known FDC Constantius I Chlorus 305/6AD I paid 9K Swissfrancs 10000% over bullion value
I buy old gold US coins based on the numismatic appeal to me — as well as, of course, if I feel I can afford it. For investment purposes, I buy American Gold Eagles, unslabbed and ungraded.
