    Is to help me identify this coin. Definitely looks copper and is a tad bigger than a US quarter.

    I sincerely thank you for all your assistance...I have had no luck looking it up in World Coins (although I still need to give the 1800's version a shot...)

    It matches the design of this coin - real plata from Spain in the late 1400's minted by Ferdinand and Isabella. But I believe the copper version was minted in the Netherlands at about the same time. Danged if I can find a referrence to it right now though :desk:

    Brabant issued a coin which is similar to that in the early 16th century.
