At first I was thinking AU until I saw the slab... It's a beautiful coin never-the-less. One which would require INHAND observation without a doubt. Here's a PCGS MS-62 for comparison.

Sorry - I do not like the toning, just not my cup of tea. Like Ben I first thought AU, then saw the slab. The more I look at it the more I can see that it looks like a weak strike versus wear. The problem is the toning keeps me from seeing the surfaces of the coin - which I can see in Bens picture. Maybe that is why I do not like dark toning on the Morgans. Who knows still overall a nice coin!

not my favorite toning, I prefer a light golden toning to darker colors.

very nice coin. I like the tone of it and the strike looks good. Is it for sale? wouldn't mind having that one for my self.

I don't care for that toning much, it looks like it's been there a long, long time. It also looks like there were several underlying fingerprints before the coin ever toned. It also looks like a good deal of the toning has been removed from inadvertent abrasion - the coin rubbing against something, perhaps the side of a bag or other coins. Some of it may even have been deliberate.

Like the toning on the front more than the back but overall I like the coin. Got to love the CC's.

With a little experience with the Morgans, I myself think it's just an average, original at first glance CC dollar. The CC lore makes the coin more desirable than most, and it will always be an easy flip if you bought right, but I would probably pass for a coin with more eye appeal in the same price range, many are available.

Thanks to everyone for your comments. :) Personally I find this type of toning very eye-appealing, even with the fingerprints. Everyone has their own likes and dislikes though. ;)

Toning? Thats a personal preference. Personally I like toning, as long as its not artificial. As we age so do coins. I don't look the same as when I was 18, and neither should a coin. Though many people perfer "white Silver coins" I like toned. Some nice natural blue tones. Beautiful coin.

Thanks, but this one's staying with me for a while.
Thanks Jack. ;) I think I'm going to retake these ones though...they're just not showing the luster that's so evident in hand.

monkeyman: here's my photo setup. I use a Sony DSC-V1 Point 'n' Shoot camera attached to a $30 copystand and 3 desklamps with CFL bulbs.

    IMO
Silver should be silver. I guess I just do not like Oxidation.

If you look up Oxidation another word for it is Corrosion or Decomposition

Coin also looks like it has been cleaned with something
