Rainbow toned??

Actually, I'm not the one who designated it as being rainbow toned. It had that written on the 2x2.

 

Me too but it shows a different type of rainbow toning than the obverse.

Put it in the junk silver run to your local LCS when silver is on the uptick. Or, it needs to fill a hole in a YN Whitman folder given maybe as a gift?...Spark

No it doesn't. It shows terminal toning that either needs to be dipped off or the coin should be sold at a deep discount.

 

Are you saying that you can not see any sign of rainbow toning around and to both sides of the top of the torch? If this is what you call terminal toning and suggest dipping it I would suggest you invest more time in studying toning. That sure looks like a different type of rainbow toning as compared to the obverse of this coin. Both types are rainbows.

Actually, I said it was described as being rainbow toned in the opening post.

 

Sure, there's some green, blue, and red in the middle of all that terminal black. The black is what needs to go. The reverse is 1/4 "rainbow" and 3/4 "terminal." That equals "terminal" in my book.

 

It's what's left of the rainbow after the sun has set. Nice in my book do to each their own. I like it.

 

Whatever. I'm going to a coin show this Saturday and if I can find the same coin in better condition I'm going to get it.

 

Actually, that's a good idea. I know who was selling it so I can ask him about it.
