A new pickup of an early modern Hungarian commemorative. Hungary 1970BP 50 Forint Proof 25th Anniversary of Liberation NGC PF67 ULTRA CAMEO
Love this coin! I've never seen the issue before. Here are some pieces I picked up today. I'm still trying to ID the bottom two but the top one is a jital issued under Tay al-Din Yildiz of the Ghurid Dynasty. 1206-1215 AD Kurraman Mint, Tye 200.
I don't often post from my Canadian and Mexican sets, but here's a nice peso I picked up the other day. Mexico 1943 Peso KM-455 (1920-1945) AR 0.720 16.6g 34mm
Just acquired this morning, in a swap with @nencoin (Northeast Numismatics.) I've wanted a Niobe medal since I first saw one. Fell in love with the design: the wonderful schooner and that ghostly, solemn cross hovering in the mist above the waves. I had browsed around and bookmarked a few. All the ones I had seen were in silver. This one is gold, and PCGS-graded Specimen-66, to boot! I didn't even know the gold ones existed until recently. Germany (Weimar Republic): gold specimen striking of a medal honoring the victims of the sunken schooner Niobe, 1932 PCGS SP66. Population 1 with 1 higher as of 10/15/2019. Schlumberger-123 Au, gold, 22 mm, 6.45 g.
Some new pickups for my modern Hungarian patterns set: Hungary 1992BP Proof Pattern set Top row from left to right 1 forint (smooth edge) 2 forint 5 forint 10 forint Bottom row from left to right 20 forint 50 forint 100 forint There is a reeded edge version of the 1 forint proof pattern as well, but it was not present in this set when I bought it, making that the last missing pattern I need from this set, as I have the full business strike pattern set already. Each pattern had a mintage of 50 pieces, out of which at least 4 pieces of each type were retained as specimens for the Hungarian national collection. Hungary 1996BP 100 Forint Proof Pattern The 100 forint coin released in 1992 was unpopular, and a new bi-metallic version was released in 1996 alongside it. The old version was discontinued after 1998. As with the above, I already had the business strike version of this pattern, but the proof version is much harder to find.
Germany-Prussia 1871 20 Mark I don't buy much gold because usually, the price is more than I want to spend. This piece fits into my German States collection and I got it for just a little over spot so I felt like it was a win.
Someday I'm getting one of these. Up to this point I could only afford those silver 5 Marks. Part of my family history (mother's side) comes from that part of Europe.
Thought I'd share a fairly recent acquisition of mine. I'm trying to put together a few PL world coins and was stoked to pick this guy up
Pleased with this farthing from 1860 - this one has beaded (as opposed to toothed) borders on both sides - the earliest design of bronze farthings:
