Hi. I'm trying to build a set of 1959-2008 Lincoln Memorial Cents from my local coin dealer. He has this box, and in there is Uncirculated dollars, halves, quarters, dimes, nickels, and cents. When he buys Mint Sets, he finds it easier to cut them apart (so the coins are in their seperate little plastic pouch), and sell them by face. The cents are $.25 each, and so would it be worth it to spend $50.00 on all mintmarks and dates 1959-2008? (Large dates, small dates, zinc 1982, all that included) Thanks. And, anybody got any tips on how to stay focused?

It sounds like a good way to build a collection. You may be able to find uncirculated Lincolns cheaper than that, or even at face value if you get rolls from your bank before they're broken out, but at a quarter a piece I guess you'd have to ask whether saving a few cents is worth the time (time you could be using for more fun stuff like reading and posting at Coin Talk :) )

Thanks for the adivce. I appreciate it. Cracking rolls open I don't like very much, because if I get them from the bank, and they aren't BU rolls, then they have been circulated. Thanks again.

Wledswift-thanks for the reply. Althought these coins that I'm getting from my dealer for $.25 each, are coins from mint sets. Here's how he does it. He buys the Uncirculated Mint Sets in the plastic. Then he cuts them apart into dollar, half dollar, quarter, dime, nickel, and penny. The dollars are $4 each, halves are $2 each, quarters are $1 each, dimes .45, nickels .35, and pennies .25. These are straight from mint sets, still in the sealed plastic they came in from the mint. Thank you for your time.

Sounds good, but I'd also watch out for circulation finds...
I've found some nice looking cents in circulation from 60's onward.
