If there are, they’ve done a good job of hiding themselves.

I have used YouTube to fix car problems, appliance problems and it is a wonderful journey back to my antique rock & roll days. It could be such a great numismatic tool. Sadly all it is numismatically is a cesspool.

Both of those cents were listed by the same person. Egads, what a way to try to make money.

It is natural though. Back in the early 1970’s, every time I found a wheat cent I thought I found the most valuable coin out there. It’s just part of the excitement we feel when we discover coin collecting.

But.. Were you indoctrinated to think that you had something truly special? Or was it something you just weren't familiar with seeing? Thats the real question here :)

I’m 22 and just now starting to see the fascination with coins. I’ll keep doing research and learning.. hopefully I’ll be in a better place too :)

That’s all it is. There waiting for some sorry sucker to pray off of. Still not right at all. Telling the wrong info in a video is one thing, to actual trying to sell something and lure people into thinking its worth more they pay for.. not cool at all. I’ve had a couple of companies this year that was willing to pay a “start fee” 2 or 3 grand extra just to start the job now in front of others customer and I decline. I’m never in the business for gouging!

I think that You Tube CAN be useful for numismatist if you are looking for videos of how coins are produced. The mint and BEP put out some very useful videos so you just have to careful when searching videos about minting and printing.

Yes it can be helpful and quite troublesome. I love watching the coinweeks and ANA.
