Then, it seems to me that if I have the standard silver proof set and a proof AE then I have everything in that Limited Edition Set. Right?

 

You have more - a Zincoln, a Jefferson, and a Native American dollar. Plus $39 extra dollars in your wallet.

 

However, there are 3 AE Proof coins this year. Silver Proof W Mint, Silver Enhanced Reverse Proof coming in Nov. and the Limited Edition S Mint. I am I still off target? Actually, there are 4 release dates for the AE Proof, 1/10 (W), 8/6 (S), 10/17 (S) Limited Ed and 11/14 (S) Enhanced Reverse Proof.

If you want Silver Eagles, the best deal is to buy them individually. There are actually 5 of them:

• Uncirculated (W)
• Proof (W)
• Proof (S)
• Reverse Proof (S)
• Reverse Proof (W) in the Pride of 2 Nations set.

If you want a Silver Proof Set, the best deal is the regular Silver Proof Set because it comes with a penny, nickel, and dollar.

The Limited Edition Set is just a silver proof set with a proof (S) ASE added and the penny, nickel and dollar left out.

 

Well, I have a virtually complete set of 20th and 21st century coins (no gold). I quit collecting the modern commemoratives last year. I have all up until then. I quit collecting Presidential and Sacagawea Dollars at the end of 2011 when the mint changed the process of release. I stopped my Kennedy collection last year. I have all the ASE's until now. I just quit them. The US Mint is putting the Franklin Mint and other TV Coin barkers to shame with all the crap they are putting out. I quit stamp collecting in 2000 for the same reason.

 

Should the bullion coin be included making it 6.

Yes but the S mint proof is also available separately and cheaper. The regular S mint proof and the "limited edition" S mint proof are exactly the same, unless you're collecting TPG labels. In which case you also need first day of issue and early release labels for each of them as well.

Thanks for the help. I am in my upper 70's and can't justify supporting the US Mint much longer. I'm guessing that the mint will try to shove more ASE variations on us every year. The releases started out as 2 per year and they pushed 6 this year and found it acceptable to the collecting public. I'm sure they will consider that in the future planning.
I have a sizable stash of duplicates of every denomination. I think I will try to trade some of those for newer releases and continue to back off. I'm still very much in the collecting hobby may even want to trade for the few holes I have in my total collection.

 

The 2018 "Limited Edition" is most likely included in the melt to produce this set, it was still available just recently and this product with a limited number of 50,000 isn't anything special. IMHO, Bait.

 

This is all very confusing and makes me glad to have my wallet elsewhere.
