We will probobly never know. I won't even touch graded coins becuase I think they are overpriced just because they are in a slab.

EDIT: I just realized something on my OP, if there were only 500 sets, surely people would know abot this right?

They're real, signature slabs were a big fad a few years ago. Didn't last long though.

Stainless , you shouldn't just dismiss a coin because it's in a slab , If you like the coin , grade & price it's then a good deal , Lots of nice Franklins are slabbed , and probably don't cost any more then a raw one . Remember buy the coin not the slab .

There are some deals but very few. The guy I buy from sells his 1960 MS-63 franks for $30 just because they are in a slab. The only thing good about a graded (slabed) coin is that you know the grade is correct, which is a plus, but I don't think I would still buy one just because I wouldnt trust myself to break open the case.

These are legit items, and they are in limited edition. To give you an idea of price....ShopNBC has the same thing for $139.98. They are usually about twice what you can buy something on ebay for. So, this item is QUITE overpriced.

I don't know about the prices, but this statement is not true. You should grade them yourself. I have seen several coins graded (in my opinion)incorrectly by the big 3. I think you stand a better shot of getting a correctly graded coin, but I would not put it the way you did. :) Plus I don't crack them out either.
