Hi guys, we had some technical issues with the server earlier today. I worked with the hosting service all afternoon to figure it out, and it turned out to be a cable inside the box that needed replacing. For quite a while, I wasn't able to get on at all to post anything, but then at 3:15 I had to go get my kids from school and do the daddy thing until finally getting them settled down in bed for the night. During that time the hosting service had the cable fixed and the site came back up.
No problem Peter. I wasn't on CT at the time. HAD I BEEN HOWEVER I would have said no big deal. clembo
No need to apologize Peter, we understand that those things happen occasionally. I think you're doing a fantastic job with this site. Who knows where we'd be wandering off to on the internet if CT wasnt here.
Hey, not a big deal. I work in computers all day and understand outages like that will happen. It is good that they got the site back up and running.....more than 1 day without CT and I think I would start have serious withdrawl symptoms.
No problem Peter. I guess I didn't try to get on during that time. You do a great job. And I have posted on forums with ALOT more problems than we have here. Thanks.
No problem Peter, My hands didn't shake to long, I just had to go have a smoke! Actually, I wish my home and work computers had as few of problems as your server does.
off this specific topic as i missed the outage......while i have seen your post, it gives me a chance.to thank you for creating this site. you may not realize the enjoyment and knowledge that this site has brought me. the fellow members are some of the most polite and civil individuals i have heard from. i also want to thank all the senior numismatists for sharing your thoughts, advice, and your numismatic experience with all who post. thank you and may God Bless You, fellow numismatists and all your families. there are a lot of good people here who i have come to respect and value greatly their opinions. thanks also to all the "lurkers" here as well tho i would love to hear more from them as well. you have created and maintained what i feel is the best coin forum on the net. sincerely......steve
Cointalk is one of the biggest coin forums out there on the net. I would be quite upset if it did disappear with no reason but occasional hiccups do occur and that's well understandable. Thanks for making this a great forum Peter.
I'll second that statement. Naturally if you didn't say anything, probably most wouldn't have noticed. Some might have banged on their own key board, mouse, monitor or even thrown the computer against a wall. Then when all back to normal, they would have thought they fixed it.
All these people are saying "No big deal"? Are they kidding??? If I don't have my daily fix of CoinTalk, I go temporarily insane! Never, ever, EVER let this happen again, Peter!
No apologies necessary Peter, my cable connection conked at roughly the same time too. I was going through major withdrawal.
