i could not agree more...may God Bless you all whether in current service or past service.
my great, great, grandfather served in the union and was wounded in 2 major battles surviving the civil war(my brother still has his musket) and other members have served in WW2, korea, and vietnam.
regardless of opinions of the wars or security actions, we owe our lives and our freedom to you. your service was never in vain, and you have made our country (w/ whatever faults we may have), the greatest nation in the world to live.
i salute you all and i want to thank you all for the sacrifices you have made to keep us safe and free.
once again...Thank you and may God Bless you and your families.
    sincerely and w/ love.....steve

Actually, thats not quite true. Freedom is free. Thats the great thing about this country. You dont have to don a uniform to be part of this nation. Just being a citizen intitles you to the right and privileges of a freeman. And to huntsman53; some folks are just stupid. I didn't notice much respect for the Armed Forces between 1975 and 1990 either. So freedom is free. Its the keeping it free thats the hard part.

"Freedom is not Free" is a qoute from the koreans war memorial in Washington DC. It implies to many thousands of us military personnel that have made the ultimate sacrifice in "dying" for the United States of America.

I understand what you are trying to say and the pride that goes with it - but I prefer to think of it this way - freedom comes with a price.

The price has been very high even if most are not directly affected by the cost. For the people that have paid the ultimate price they have done so with honor and pride. They have followed orders that they knew may lead to their deaths and they have done it because they care about our way of life and the families they leave behind. So in that sense "Freedom is not free." The military is not for everyone, and that's okay ~ but if you enjoy your freedom - please honor them and do not lose sight of the cost.

Again, I think this is just a different way of saying the same thing Craig said but I also feel it is necessary for people to remember the message.

I agree with you. Its easy to take our rights and freedom for granted. As it is also easy to forget those who have paid the ultimate price for our freedom.
