I found a bicential gold piece, with it's authentication and would like to know if it has any value, and if so, what sort? It was wrapped in paper and virtually untouched. Would appreciate any input. Thanks, Kim
Kim Is it a bicential quarter or half or dollar like the coins that were made back then plated in gold? I agree with webcat5..if you can post photos it would help. Speedy
It is not a plated coin, but is the size of a dime. I just thought it would be something rather common and someone might know what it was. I will try to get a photo and post it. Thanks for your input.
Well since its not anything I've heard of I don't think its from the US Mint...does it say what private mint its from? Speedy
I'm at work and the coin is at home. I will bring it with me tomorrow and hopefully will have more information. Thanks!
bicentential coin Here are pictures front and back as well as the "certificate of authenticity." If anyone can tell me anything about these, I'd appreciate it.
Alright Its from the Colmbia Mint... I also think it looks plated...since it's only .500 fine gold it is not that pure. I'm not guessing much value...I wish it was worth some but I just don't think so...maybe somebody eles will know more. Speedy
You're not too far off my young friend! It probably is solid .500 (12K) gold, and based on its size, the AGW (actual gold weight) is approximately .028 oz. With spot gold at a little over $435 oz., the melt value is in the $12 neighborhood, definitely not the high rent district. With that COA, it might go for up to $15 on EBay.
