Is this a "Dropped Letter" Error?

Look at Abe's forehead. Looks like a "B"
    dropped letter error.

I am not convinced it is. What do you guys think? If so, is it the B in PLURIBUS or LIBERTY? It looks more like the smaller sized B in PLURIBUS to me...

Sure looks right to me . . . looks like the B of LIBERTY.

    These are quite rare.

In the close up, it looked like an 8, but in the other photos it looks like the B.
I wish I had the ability to overlay, but just eyeballing the Bs makes me think it's a dropped B from LIBERTY.

I think the B in PLURIBUS is too small.
Neat find. How did you come by it?

Oops. I thought I clicked on Full Size for all photos, but the one comparing the B in Lincoln didn't come in as full size and Edit doesn't allow changing the photo once it is posted.

The "B" in question looks smaller and of a differnet font than B in Liberty. Where did this B come from?

    It looks indented.

Question: Would "Dropped Letter" be the same "Struck Fragment"?

I think the “B” is from “LIBERTY”. From how the dropped letters are formed, there will be some sort of flipover in order to have “B” from “Pluribus” to get to obverse.

    Just my thoughts.

It is supposed to be indented for a dropped

    "B" from "LIBERTY" maybe?

A friend asked me if I wanted it. Paid $70. If it is not a dropped letter, he said he'd refund me plus attribution fees. Dealt with him a few times before; he is a stand-up guy

Taking a measurement using your photos the B on Lincoln's forehead is smaller than the B in LIBERTY. Maybe that's what happens to dropped letters. I don't know but would like to hear from some of the experts. For you, I hope it is a dropped letter. :)

After reading the above article, if what caused it was hardened "gunk" falling out of the die, I would expect that the B (in this case) WOULD be smaller then the original B. BWDIK?

Thank you. I'm not real familiar with dropped letters. Thank you for confirming that I'm seeing it correctly. It's nice to know my eyes are not failing me. :)

I don't know anything about authenticating these errors, but at least it's not backward. (I knew it looked familiar for some reason...)
