@panzerman has some beautiful coins. I don't think that
these would high enough grade for him.

    Trying for 1452

I have looked diligently for a 1452 dated coin. I looked on Coin Archives
and AC Search. I tried Islamic coins and a few attempts at Oriental
with no luck. After that we would still need a similarly dated 1451
coin as well. After that I have coins for 1443-1450. Any suggestions
or has the Game run its coarse. I messaged @Curtisimo for ideas. Post
any thoughts or ideas you might have.

How about we declare @tibor the winner as he has had most of the last few coins, but then continue with whatever ones people still have going earlier, just for the fun of it?

Winning for me would be to share some of my pre 1451 coins. The reason
for my post #3803 was to see if someone with better detective skills could
help us find the missing dates. I get a lot of pleasure just sharing my coins.

... and we do seeing them, which is why I suggest we/you carry on listing them whilst accepting that the we have reached the end of the original game. :)

I will start sharing the coins later today or tomorrow. A couple of
    doctor appointments today.

Agree. Fantastic condition for a 1460 coin, especially from Ireland where coins tend to be cruddy

Proposal seconded. Congratulations to our winner @tibor ! I look forward to seeing more of tibor's coins (and perhaps some from his late challenger @gapukas and, of course, a few gold beauties from @panzerman)

What about a coin of Mehmed II?

    http://enl.numismatics.org/id/3467

Surely someone has to have one of those?

@Curtisimo replied with the above suggestion earlier today.

I will start a thread asking forum members if they have this coin or
any other coin from this year.

You all know that the coins pictured that do not have a black back
ground I took from AC Search or Coin Archives. I discussed this with
@GDJMSP and @Curtisimo a few months ago. They seemed OK
    with it.

I appreciate that you think I should be the winner. I think it should be
the one with the most posts that got us to 1500 A.D. I couldn't have
posted any of my coins in this game without the help of all those
    before me.

There will be many winners to the game and @tibor will certainly be one of them :)

When the dust settles and we have gone back as far as possible I will put together a (hopefully) suitable thank you to all the folks who participated here, including some prizes for some of the stand out posters. I can’t believe we made it this far back!

I must confess that I am really wanting to see @tibor ‘s pre-1451 coins!

Since the time machine is broke down and in need of some fixin’ we might as well get out here in the year 1453, stretch our legs, and look around...

Hmmm it looks like Constantinople is in a bit of a pickle :eek:

Yup. It was this year, 1453, that the city of Constantinople fell to the forces of the Ottoman ruler Mehmed II.

A French miniature showing the siege (painted ca. 1455). The drawing is surprisingly accurate on the overall layout of the city as it clearly shows a “horn shaped” city on a peninsula surrounded by the sea and a river. However the architecture in the painting is clearly very French inspired!

There have been some very interesting write ups about this event on the forum.

This date is one that is sometimes considered to be the demarcating line of “ancient coins”!

Also... I know someone on the forum who has an AH 855 / 1451-2 example. In fact, it is posted to the above linked thread. I will send a message to ask if he would be willing to post it here.

Had I known you were going to dust off the DeLorean, I would
have gone with you and done some CRH.

Wow!! Thank you @philologus_1 for that amazing post. Now the
question is which year does it fill? If 1452 then we still need 1451.
    What say you @Curtisimo ?

Just found this one on ACsearch. If we use the prior one for 1452 then this one could be used for 1451. If I remember the rules correctly we don't have to own the coin to use it. Photo and description from ACsearch.

Another great find. My detective skills and computer skills
are woefully lacking. With the forums approval and @Curtisimo's
as well, I will post my 1450 in the morning.

Fair game. Let’s give it the usual time frame in case anyone else has additional AH 855 / 1451 coins.

Can’t wait to see your next coins!
