In the PCGS Price Guide, it list 1999 through 2004 D & P coins as regular mint.

    In 2005 & up, it list D & P regular plus D & P Satin finish.

What is the difference between the regular mint and the Satin finish mint ?

The satin finish were from the mint sets.

Satin finish coins were specially made for inclusion in mint sets. They were not sold individually.

Before 2005 mint set coins are indistinguisable from regular circulation issue.

They were struk under greater pressure and at slower speeds with new dies and then specially handled but you can't really know if it's a mint set coin or no from before 2005. In 2005 the mint set dies began recieving a chrome plating and it affects the appearance of the coin which the mint nicknamed "satin finish".

I recently found a 2004 with exact same chrome type plating and even more doubling type effect for the GREAT LAKES STATE.Would this be considered a US mint Error of some sort.Since they are suppose to be for 2005 and beyond.Did I find great fortune ! 2004 DDO DDR with clear Edge .JPG 2004 Quarter showing Doubling .JPG 2004 Quarter with cllear edge.JPG

The "DIES" received the chrome plating not the planchets or coins.

What you have here is simply a plated coin which is considered PMD (Post Minting Damage) which renders it worth only face value.
