Howdy fellow coin peeps, :thumb: I found this on Ebay and while I know it's a counterfeit/fantasy piece, it's still an interesting coin and I think it would be an excellent addition to any Peace Dollar collection (fills a hole that doesn't exist) and for someone who collects counterfeits, it would be a must have in my opinion. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=200223852715&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=010 Ribbit
It is not even a good fake, it is a bad example. It is worse than even the Chinese examples, some of which are getting almost convincing.
Got a better example to post? Bring it on! :thumb: I love quality fantasy pieces but the real good ones are hard to find. Ribbit
Well 1929 is a very rare date for Peace dollars lol... can't get any rarer than non-existant. I'd call it a counterfeit but you can't really have a fake of something that never really existed. Guess "fantasy piece" would be the technically correct term.
Can you give us the skinny on these? I asked PCGS if they'd slab/authenticate a Henning Nickel and they said they wouldn't slab counterfeits, so that makes me wonder what the scoop is on this. :rolling: Ribbit
Does anyone here read German? Babelfish struck out on translating this reply I received from the seller to an e-mail pointing out that there were no 1929 Peace Dollars:
