Besides my 5 cent ,and half dime collection I do have two fun items I collect as a side collection.
1 elongated coins mostly cents but a few nickels and 1 dime now.
2 love tokens carved on IHC 's....

I picked this up yesterday an 1898 IHC love token that appears to have something protruding from her neck. This isn't pmd or glue ,it is actually medal in hand the same color as the coin . 20191007_205546.jpg 20191007_205452.jpg C:WINDOWSTempE708 - 20191006_184615.jpg
No matter I love the piece the color in hand is really sweet, very eye appealing.

The first IHC looks like she has a skin tag. I think my wife could remove that...she did a good job on one of mine, although the neighbors thought we were butchering a hog in our house when I screamed.

    Cool coins, Paddy.

What's with the 'Adam's Apple'? (He had one in High School'. So subconscious. Freudian slip)

I'll guess a die chip or some type of die damage. Cool piece.

I think they're cool. Each coin with it's own personal history.

I paid $5 for that piece and to be honest I would of pulled the trigger at $100. It one of my favorite pieces, the other one is nice also thank god for Verdi care as it put the hot spot out.... still damaged but it is arrested now. That was another that was had quite reasonable. And again I would of paid up a little.

Absolutely super collection Paddy!:singing:;) Between you & LordM with his elongated coins, I think these are 2 very untapped exonumia areas to collect. I love the personalization's - it really gives them a "life" (especially some of the one's @lordmarcovan has researched in the past). I have some "Lucky Penny" tokens in my collection, but they don't have the same "feel" if you know what I mean. I think this is an area I will now look at strongly. Thanks for the excellent post!

Here's one I wish I still had. Judging from the harp and the battle implements (rifle, cannon, drum, sword), I'd say this almost certainly had to do with an Irish regiment in the Civil War.

It was an exceptional piece. Not all the "trench art" coins I've had were from WW1.

That "centennial" piece is awesome. The octolobe/floral one is really nicely done, too. Hope you can treat that verdigris spot.

The adams apple on the first coin looks like a spot of glue or something. Pick at it with your fingernail, I bet it pops off.

Bet it wont.....not glue or something ....it's copper and toned as the underlying color....what ever it is it happened at the mint.

It was treated and I'm hopeful that it has arrested the progression.

Paddy, please do not do that. Betting whether in fun or serious is not allowed and I might have to censor both parties if it stands. We do not want to let it spread to bigger things. Jim

Understood Jim....just wanted to make it understood it isn't anything that can be removed ,it is medal chip that comes from under the neck line.
