Hi I have had my collection for over 20 yrs now. So I was going thru things and organizing things. Come across this coin I wanted to bring to light a long time Ago. Just forgot about it. 1971 S. - Eisenhower Proof. So obviously u can see by the pictures. What intrigued me or curiousity E Pluribus. You can see where the name was on back of this coin. I see date difference. Curious. What your thoughts Keep your comments nice or don't reply Thanks
Looks like a large counter stamp to me. Not an error more like PMD. The memorial was pressed into the coin by someone after it left the mint. This is the reason the E Pluribus looks the way it does and the date is different from the obverse. One more thing, it is 1971S Silver Business Strike. Not a proof.
That counter stamp, if I'm not mistaken, is because of the Iranian Hostage Crisis. From Wiki : Iran_hostage_crisis
Welcome to C.T. As already stated...counter stamped Btw, please don't always expect kind responses on a public forum, as it's just not gonna happen. Grow thicker skin, and overlook the negative posts, is my best advice.
