I picked up a roll of New Mexico quarters, Phillies, and when I opened them to pick out the ones to put in my collection, I quickly noticed that most all had this extra fill around the top right outside corner edge of the state, which is about square in shape, on the coin. There is more of this type of fill on the right top, same edge and also the left vertical edge as well. My camera is in my desk at work at the moment, so I can't post any pics of this flaw at this moment but I will asap. Just wondering if anyone else has seen this problem yet. You can't miss it. Thanks, Allen
Can you find a picture on the web and maybe draw or point out where/what the flaw is? So far I am not sure what you are talking about. I saw nothing on the ones I have.
I'll have to post some pics of my search tomorrow. The P mint quarters had several OB and REV strike through, leaving a shiny surface. Also found material from die breaks around the pony tail.
Why is it Philly has most to all of the problems minting coins? Hey Magman or anyone else in the valley, did you catch last Sunday's paper? A&E section front page?
Finally Got the Pictures Had a hard time getting a decent picture to show this problem, but here it is.
Any idea of what this means? Is it a big deal or not? I have several coins with the same thing of various degrees and on most all side of the edge. Allen
Error Feature Pictures On Nm Quarters I posted some pictures of very similar error features on P-NM Quarters. They were quite frequent and I have several coins which have essentially the same patterns. I assume they are not planchet problems but originate with the die and the coining process. Enjoy!
I'd say almost 90% of the Oklahoma quarters I have have the same effect as the obverse pic above. I've always wondered what it was, but it seems to be fairly common. Guy~
Today I found a couple of new mexico quarters at work today with the same type characteristics. Brought one home, but looks common to me and like the pictures kidkayt posted.
