I always liked these earlier Taiwan notes due to their archaic-style vertical orientation

1969 Mexico 10 Pesos.

Still legal tender (at least at a bank), albeit after removing three zeros from the number...
so this is currently 0.001 pesos. Nice

 

Just got my first ever *star* note when I asked for cash back at the grocery store today! Obviously a spender note but maybe I feel like holding onto it. This has many creases and is not even close to crisp. Might only grade around the 30 ish range.

Out of hundreds of cash register notes I've been accumulating I feel accomplished finding this in my wallet.

 

The ATM machine spit it out.

A 1928E Ace in Gem followed by a 1928 $50 in AU, very nice.

 

North Africa - WW II $1 Bill: Won this in a recent auction. Price really jumps if you go to PMG 66 or 67...ditto if you go for certain blocks or a low SN. So I just went for the highest quality I could afford, sans any other currency feature.

Thanks Steve...just curious, if you have a special bill (i.e., Hawaii or North Africa or something like those) would you pay up more for another 1-2 grades HIGHER or would you try and get something like a low serial number or special Fed districts or blocks ?

Me, personally, I like things that are visible and stick out and that is basically quality and/or SNs.

 

Although I like high grade notes, I don’t chase them. An experienced mentor once told me to only buy the note once. What he meant was to be patient and buy an example you really like without the thought of upgrading in the future. There are exceptions that includes notes that are rare and do not surface often.

Instead of upgrading an existing note, I would rather buy something I don’t already have.
