The New Dollar Coin: American Innovation

Are Innovation Dollars going to be circulated, or just available from the mint like NIFC Kennedy's. I did order a proof, and am debating on ordering a roll of each. I detest coins with the edge markings, but I do need some for my collection.

Beardigger, I will certainly buy two "P" and two "D" of each state plus postage and a modest profit if you want to share your rolls. I can't spend the $70 plus postage and then have lots of extra coins from each issue. I'll get the proof coins from the mint directly. LMK if you want to buy rolls of these dollars and then sell a few to a new friend who also collects this series. And yes, I would gladly use dollar coins in circulation on a daily basis if they were available at banks here in the eastern-most part of Pennsylvania (one hour north of Philly, PA). Thanks

 

LOL, I know the feeling. Separating myself from U.S. Mint purchases myself. Silver proof sets only. Back to the classics for me. Oh look! Pennsylvania's up!

 

Looking for Delaware "P" and "D" and the other 2019 issues as well. Who wants to buy some rolls from the mint and then be my distributor? Happy to pay some premium over your cost. thank you fellow dollar coin fans.

 

They will not circulate - only available from the mint in bags, rolls, and Innovation proof sets (i.e., all 4 dollars in a single lens).

I got one roll of the 2018 first type. I used them for my great grandchildren type set. No more for me.

 

I just wanted the original one in rolls. The rest I will just snag in a proof set which is on the 11th.

 

Is anyone getting these. I know vert little about these. I don't even hear them mentioned

 

Do they sell them one at a time?

 

Most comments I hear are folks stating that they don't care for them and the mint flooding the hobby with junk

No. I had to get a roll of 20 or 25. I only got some to give my grand kids as a type coin. Won't buy anymore.

 

So nobody on CoinTalk has bought a Delaware?

 

Doesn't look like it. The one's who bought the introductory coin were in the very minor minority. I wasn't anticipating many grabbing any of the others at all. Actually, maybe I will pick up a roll of D & P when I grab the proof set just because no one is interested at this moment.

 

Don't use me as an example. I am 76 years old and not in to new mint stuff anymore. I have too much mint junk that isn't worth what the mint sold it for. Splitting my stuff for the kids, grandkids and great grandkids. I only wanted one piece for type sets.

 

I understand. I just like potentially low mintage stuff. I'm almost 35 so if I can throw these in the safe and forget about them, who knows what will happen in the next 5 or 10 years. By then, I won't care either way about the premium I paid and still have at minimum a roll of $1 coins.

 

I have rolls of the Native American Sacagawea and Presidential Series. I quit ordering them in 2011. I am using them at places like the golf course to give tips to the young girls that work concessions. Actually, most of them are excited to get them. Perhaps there will be some new collectors.

 

I agree the mintages on this series could get really small as the years go by. I'm just not interested in pursuing a non-circulating issue - it will be fun for other people. The annual proof sets would probably be my choice, although $20+shipping seems steep for a base-metal issue, IMHO.

I collected the 50-state/ATB/National Parks quarters because I could get most from circulation. Only had to buy a handful.

I'll be turning my attention to seated dimes and 19th and 20th century type sets and nice classic silver coins I think.
