I bought 11 silver coins for 20 dollars to help a co worker out .Was surprised to find this semi key coin in the group. The rest of the coins were mercury dimes and a G4 1871 seated liberty dime.
I did give him more. I had bought them sight unseen, I just threw them into my pocket thinking they were junk silver worth melt. So the 20 dollars was more than I thought they were worth, but he needed some cash. Now I have to figure out how to get it graded (I have never sent a coin in for grading)
I haven't sent anything in either, but I've seen it mentioned it's more cost effective to send multiple coins in due to shipping.
Nice coin. Perhaps acetone can safely remove some of the organic black crud. Doesn't appear damaged or cleaned. Maybe the acetone will bump it from a VG-08 to an F-12. Kicking in a few more dollars was the right thing to do.
I hate that term. It doesn't belong in these forums. Conjures unlikely occurrence. Dirt bag would be a better observation.......
Nice coin! At auction, certified, that's probably worth between $100-200. Hope you were real generous in your "kickback."
If it makes F-12 I think it is more than that. I could be wrong, I don't follow prices much but the guides I have show a F-12 around $350 retail. If it tops out as an 8 your probably right, but I think it has a decent shot at 12.
