Does anyone at CT have any experience with the Christoph Gartner auction house? They charge a ridiculous 23.8% buyer's fee plus 2.00EUR per lot purchased. I figured that if I could buy at a low enough price, it might offset these charges. But in the terms of sale it states, "Lots marked with + are sold under the margin system...". This appears to be another charge under certain conditions. I contacted the firm over a week ago asking for an explanation but have received no response. Do any of you know is meant by the margin system? Thanks for any light on this subject.
Is that 2€ charge for shipping? Otherwise you will likely be paying shipping and there is also conversation fees to consider as well unless you're in the Euro zone.
Do they offer coins not available elsewhere? Why would someone buy from them? How are they (still) in business? How long have they been in business? Unless they offer some "value added" service, it would seen ridiculous to buy from them. JMO
They would be a hard pass for me with the commission, extra fee, and conversation fees. But I'm a small time collector.
A margin scheme usually refers to the manner how taxes (VAT) are calculated over the sale price. Some info for the British situation here: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/the-margin-and-global-accounting-scheme-vat-notice-718
