After selling a raw coin on ebay and getting less than I paid for it a week ago, I think I am going to invest in NGC and PCGS. That way my coins will have more clout. Sad though. I don't like third parties all that much, but they seem to be a necessary evil if I want a return, or rather a protection on my investment.
That depends upon the coin(s). Many coins are not worth getting certified, while for others, the cost of certification is more than made up for by the extra prices they can achieve.
MrDSmith, I agree with Mark, but would also add that a week is not a long time to flip a coin. I would think that unless you picked it up for a heck of a great deal, you'd have a hard time getting much more than you paid for it just one week later.
What a shame my brother from the east. Please be sure and let us know how you do, minus the fees of course. Take Care Ben
Particularly with Internet sales. It's reasonable that TPG opinions (grade and authenticity) have more weight in a "sight unseen" market.
If you paid x-amount for a coin last week, why would you think that you could sell it for more this week ? Whether it was raw or slabbed ?
hi...only my own opinion, but i would not classify this as investing. it is speculation. the coin is much more important than any slab. many will disagree with me, but spending money on coins should be because you have a love and appreciation for the given coin. buying w/ an intent to profit, especiially in such a short term is best left to coin dealers and expert numismatists. much knowledge (and especially the ability to apply it) is necessary.ojnly my own opinion...best wishes in your endeavors.....steve
