I've found a 2006 nickel P mint mark it has a lot of die chips and a die crack. Problem is it has some damage to it I'm wondering if it's still worth something with the damage considering the amount of die chips and the die crack. There are chips on M O N L T in Monticello one one the left and the right of the roof over entrance 4 on the dome 2 to the left of the building and the crack runs from the left of the building to the rim. I've included pictures tell me what you think. Thanks for your time and input.
If you wanted to buy a used car and looked at one with dents and scratches.. Wouldn't you offer less than what they are asking for it?
True but I haven't asked for anything other than opinions yet. Also it's not been easy to find anything without dents or scratches so far. Even the 2018 219 shield pennies I've found a chip or 2 on have had scratches on them. I just thought maybe because of the amount and because of the large size of some of them it might be worth more than 5¢. But I guess not looks like i'll have to find a 55 in mint condition of course I probably won't get offered more than $5 for it.
I knew it was in bad shape just had thought it might be worth more than 5¢. It's been awhile since I've found a coin in decent shape especially with even the Denver mint not bothering with quality control since new pennies aren't being made after this year except for proofs for collectors and those are going to be auctioned off.
I would suggest getting a box of nickels. I typically go through a box or two a week. I've found a few good coins and a few great coins, But i've been doing this for 4-5 years now.
4-5 years and only found a few good ones and a few great ones going through that many coins a week. I think I may have to switch this to a casual hobby to kill some time rather than something for trying to make some extra money with. Looking like the odds are about the same as winning playing scratchers.
Meow likes to CRH pennies. Meow does about 10-20 rolls a week. Been doing it over a year and a half and enjoy doing so. Found a lot of interesting minor errors. The best find so far is a 1960 d/d in BU R/B.
I CRH pennies to about 10 a week I also get about $50 in quarters each month from laundry mat change machine to go through. Been doing it about 6 months so far nada.
There are so many minor errors out there that it's almost impossible to keep track of them all. I only keep the great ones and ask about the questionable ones. There is treasure to find. My favorite so far is the 1865 no rays shield nickel in very good condition, Then the 1912 v nickel in pretty bad shape, Not much over face, But I like it.If you're doing this to get rich instead of the actual enjoyment of be prepared to be greatly disappointed!
I enjoy it as long as I don't let my OCD take over. And I didn't expect to get rich was hoping to make a few extra dollars because I don't get much on disability but so far all I found is coins I'm going to keep for myself they aren't in good enough shape to sell. The 2 coins you mentioned did you find them CRH?
Every coin I have is from CRHing. I haven't sold any and haven't bought any. But I've really been thinking about selling a few. I really don't want to but sometimes it demands it.
I never said I didn't enjoy it or was in it just to make money I was saying it would be nice to make a little something I'd me ecstatic to make $2-5 on the occasional penny considering how many pennies I go through it would add up in a years time. "Learning something new every day"
I’ve done that a few times. It’s fun. Makes me appreciate honest coin dealers. Tough way to make a living!
