Hi, new here. Was wondering if anyone could tell me if this coin is somewhat rare or if it has any value. In researching it, I have found very little. It's 1959 one shilling Federation of Nigeria coin (same as photo I saw that De Orc posted in another thread) with the palm tree on back and Queen Elizabeth the second on the front. Thanks for any info on it.
Not of much value unless it is in perfect condition really. Here is a circulated one on Indian eBay for 105 rupees including postage (about $2). http://cgi.ebay.in/NIGERIA-1959-ONE...48025QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262
My name is Mariam Abacha and before my father was murdered, he showed me a trunkbox full of 1959 shillings...
Krause lists the unc at $3.50 This is underrated but this coin is not scarce in high grade. It comes nice so even gems aren't overly tough. Most of these circulated only briefly so XF's and AU's are common.
