There are many more sources that you can flip through. Somewhere there is a checklist. Good luck and fun with those.

Zippy Kitty uses the Charleton Standard Catalogue of Canadian Colonial Tokens. She highly recommends it to anybody interested in this field

There were hundreds of different designs made throughout that period . There is 1 person on Coin Talk that knows a lot about these if he will chime in . I cannot remember his name but he will know if it is a special coin or one that was minted that way on purpose. Very interesting without any legend , hope you have a rarity. Dillan

If nothing else, Davey has presented us all with a fine mystery. I hope to see the conclusion of it. At first I was leaning toward the idea that the lettering had been milled off, then the fact that the weight remained the same as an "unaltered" coin kind of caused me to put that idea aside. Now I am thinking it was a pattern possibly produced as an experiment by the die makers.

Not sure who you have in mind but a shout out to @brg5658 who knows these well. His knowledge may help. He was on CT last week

Letters weigh so little, being removed would have minimal effect on the coin. Notice the weight was given with only one decimal place? That suggests a scale that could be off by up to .1 with a rounding of .05. To me, that leaves enough room for some filed off letters and the coin to be about the same weight. Anyway, I've said my belief and I've offered to back it up by paying costs if it were to be a pattern. However, the discoloration and the showing of some lettering point very heavily towards damage... and I wouldn't offer to give away money unless I didn't think I was risking anything...

I would email pics to Sandy at Proof Positive coins in Canada.
Too perfect to be filled dies.

Could have been done to be re-engraved as a Love Token.

Once you pointed them out, I'm pretty sure I can see the "ghost" letters also.

I think that the lettering has been carefully removed. You can almost see the change in the surface luster/sheen

Letters were removed. The give away is the ghosting of the K above the crown to the northwest on the reverse (the K of BANK TOKEN)

Looks cool, but a damaged token IMO.
