2002 Indiana coin error help

    That did not occur at the US Mint

    Too much bourbon in their Mint Julep during break time can cause some mishaps :hungover:

    Thank you, and I'm not a coin expert which is why I signed up for this site. I was thinking because of the last two letters in QUARTER DOLLAR are raised up like that. The specks in the stars, and the half circle blank spot on that side. Looks like there's a fox head at the top...

    First, welcome to the neighborhood.

    Before you can understand how errors occur during the minting process, you must learn how coins are made. There is no way that your quarter could have been created during any phase of the minting process. It is definitely post-mint damage (PMD).

    Welcome to CT. We all started somewhere, so welcome to the neighborhood. As @cpm9ball said, learning how coins are minted will add tremendously to how you view your coins. Keep reading posts here and learn. Keep looking at your change and post questions that you can't find a reasonable answer to.
