I just read online that the mint isn't going to be making anymore new pennies has anyone else heard anything about this.
Good! These zincolns were the end of cent collecting anyway. Au revoir little cent, you served us well.
I'm fine with this as long as Congress passes a law that says retailers must round sales taxes down to the next .05 increment instead of upwards. Another new lobby type may soon emerge.
Maybe if copper cent hoarders would give them up We would have enough pennies to distribute for the next couple of years! (No need to hoard copper cents.. It's so silly)
Any mention of the new 2¢ or 3¢ coin yet ? Might still be top secret information, on a need to know basis. JK
Have you run into that article that was published on April 1st last year? (I think it was last year, might have been this year.)
I did read that the bahamas was going to phase out there cent by the end of 2020. I think dec 30th was the last day people could spend them befor there obsolete on the 31st? Ill see about finding the link again.
In order to get kids involved in coin collecting, I still encourage them to search for pennies 1980 & before. It gets them looking at their change and gets them involved. Hopefully it will bloom into coin collecting on a more serious level.
Actually the cost of something and the tax is going to be rounded up to next 5¢. Unfortunately I tried to include the link but my phone wouldn't let me paste it. Also it's not an April fool's joke it was in a financial article. This is the last year they are making them for the public they will make limited proofs next year to be auctioned off with the proceeds going to help pay some of the deficits. Like they are going to get that much for them.
This was an April Fools Day article https://cashmoneylife.com/us-mint-cease-penny-production/ @Conder101 @PlanoSteve
If saving copper cents are silly then why is the mint doing 1 ounce rounds? 1982 the last year of copper cents should have some value. 2cents in metal value and for sure will go up in value over time.
Nice I have a large number of unsearched boxes of copper cents. It reminds me of when silver coins went off the grid. I also see a day of no coins at all in today's society. I Just love the history of our nation's coins!!
