Any thoughts on what this is?

Hi, I received the coin (or medal) below with a large box of coins and bills in an auction. The coin is heavily worn, but has the date '1776' in a Times-like font, and what appears to be a building or a cityscape (or a ship?) ab ove it and barely distinguishable. The top of the front as well as the back are worn smooth. I have been through resources on early American, British, and some European countries but haven't found anything comparable. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. 20190926_101929.jpg

No idea, but when I looked @ the pic I immediately thought it looked like the state of Kentucky. But "1776"?

The back is smooth (pic below). So smooth that I wonder if it is a medal or commemorative item, rather than a coin.

15/16" (24mm) wide, 1/16" thick (1mm). Will need to weigh it.

This one is for sale on eBay for $4.95. Not a perfect match, but close.

Pretty sure this is it... $20 on eBay. Struck in 1876. Copper medal.

Pocket piece. Most have holes in them, but not all.

    Way to go Detective!

I'm wondering if it was struck using the US Mint equipment that was located at the Centennial Exhibition. I have this medal that was struck onsite during the exhibition. Could there be others?
