looks like damage to me in multiple areas metal pushed around and scraped against. maybe not from one instance (but could be the more I look at it), but multiple instances to one side.
Planchet laminations (due to improper metal mixture of the planchet strip) Nice example, but very very common. value - $2-$4 retail, imo.
