1982 D Sm over Lg date or MD? Why me?

    Ok everyone pics not very good but the only reason I ask is the top 2 digit is squared off and bottom has the flare point. 3.1gms

    I believe you have the Large date 1982 D cent. The date looks the way it does because IMO it was struck by a worn die. It shows evidence of Die Deterioration Doubling. Read this page: http://doubleddie.com/144843.html.

    I agree.. Large date with die deterioration.

    No such thing as small over large date in 1982 minted cents.

    I don't believe there is such a variety. I mean, the 1st one would be a discovery coin, but you would think someone would have found it after 37 years.
    There is a 1960-D small date over 1960-D large date but not the 1982.
    When you consider the shapes of the 2 and the 8, the size, and the different distance to the rim, a 1982 small over large would be crazy looking.
