Rachel Perez Just a very wishful thinker!

How do you recognize if a coin that has been clipped was done in minting process or in fact is a PMD?

    Example: IMG_20190925_131339233.jpg IMG_20190925_131438627.jpg

    Good question..
Left Cent is obvious damage. It should be the same shaped curve as the coin in question.

Right Cent has the Blakesley Effect opposite the clip. Thats weakening during the strike due to the missing area. Put a Cent into that curve and you will see it fits in perfectly.

Well thanks.. 34 years of collecting mint errors and I can say that I'm still learning. I've been corrected a few times ;)

Well, I know where to get accurate information should I ever be in doubt of anything pertinent. Quite amazing, and the advice is free. Very nice Sir.

Ok just so I'm clear on which one is PMD. . It's not the 1958.

I'm beginning to really like this new hobby! Maybe one day I'll be the one giving answers instead of always asking the questions.. Maybe!

You will. Certain folks here are top notch experts. Paddyman98 for example. If and when this gent responds, you better believe his information will be spot on. The man knows his stuff. There are others too and you'll figure out who they are rather quickly.
