I am trying to determine what this is e exaclty. It appears parta of tha letter is raises. Between some letters( I &B) its filled. I appreciate all the help.
I am afraid that somebody has taken a wire wheel to that poor coin. What you are seeing as raised areas between letters is likely where the metal was moved on the surface of the coin when it was subjected to the force of a wire wheel.
Ive had this coin for 28 years. I worked at a gas and scrubbled it with a brillo pad. Dumb i kmow, but I was 19. At the station, the guy broke some of these from mint packs. Ive thrown them around for the last 28 years. I dont think its ever been on a a wire wheel prior to me and i didn't. . The raised portions are on the I, U M edges . Filled between the I and B.
I think he meant that something like a wire-wheel brush or Dremel tool was used to improperly clean it. It would create the same appearance as a Brillo9 pad. Chris
Right? I was a kid. I dont think i did damage like that, though. I trust you guys opinion. Here are a few at an angle. Notice the s as well. Again, thanks
