Why did this raw Morgan toner sell for so much?

Gross. It sold for that much because at least one person doesn't know what they're doing. Of course, there's not much risk here if your plan is to look at it in hand before deciding to return it. Does ebay show returned items as sold?

When it gets slabbed one can say beauty is in the eye of the NGC, or PCGS, holder.

Since I don't know what I'm doing, I'm still looking for an '04S Morgan as I asked you about; I wouldn't care much for a toner, though.

    It takes all types.

Whoever the winner is he is the end user. The seller has got to be laughing all the way to the bank.

I have some amazingly beautiful toned coins that I can't even imagine selling for that much. Maybe I gotta get back to Ebay selling once again!

I agree that it isn't attractive at all. Conversation piece. But why don't y'all think it AT? Maybe because no one would artificially tone a coin to be that unattractive? Could it have been an experiment?

It is common for Morgan Dollars that have sat in an old coin album for years to look this way. The longer it sits the darker it will get.

I feel the same way about Ebay. A fool and his money are soon parted.

Don't know how other States do it. I'm pretty sure that in New York it's the buyer that pays the sales tax and it's up to the seller to remit the tax to the City and State.
