Bend PMG slab for UNC note normal?

Discussion in 'Paper Money' started by MorganDollarGuy, Sep 22, 2019.

  1. I recently purchased this PMG graded note from eBay. It arrived bent. Is this normal? Is there any way to fix this? Will this affect the grade of this note?

Like with most people, i want a quality note in a pristine holder, someone for sure
Dropped the ball on that one, what makes it even worse if you leave it in there
Like that, overtime it will set in that shape, that,s why its important to have it
Flat, here,s an example of one of my Disneys in a 66 holder it got a bubble in
It plus if you close its very wavy, which is no good :(

I tend to differ, left in this condition again over time you will have
Small ripples develop, your best bet is to resubmit, they will probably
Re holder it for no charge :)

  7. Thanks! Who is Jennifer? I'm asking to see what I can ask her.

  8. If I can re-holder without a charge, I will definitely do so even if I need to pay shipping. How can I know if I can re-holder for free?

Jennifer works at PMG in Customer Service and acts as a liaison between PMG and it’s customers.

You'll have to pay the reholder fee unless they decide to do you a favor.

Is it a note that has value? Would it be that important to have it re-submitted?

That value thing is kinda like the "art" thing.

I dont think they would charge you, after all its there mistake, that,s not
what i would call an acceptable holder, how it left PMG like that is a mystery
To me, as i am sure they have some sort of quality control.

Why would you buy something in a out of wack holder ? that is actually
Distorting the note in side....that would be my question.

If it's PMG's mistake, which it appears to be, insist on having them reholder it for free.

He didn't say he got this from a PNG submission. He said he bought it off ebay. PNG is not at fault in any way any more than a car manufacturer is at fault for every subsequent action of every owner. At fault is the person who stored it improperly and caused the bend. Maybe that is the seller and maybe it was the person he got it from. Fair is fair and this is most definitely not their fault.

I would think using a hair drier on low, from a distance, would relax the holder and allow it to lay flat, but if you can get it reholdered for free, that would be the way to go.

What about placing a couple of heavy books on it and leaving it for a while?

  20. Should I ask for a return on eBay? Does this qualify as "Item Not As Described" if the seller never mentioned the slab is bent. The photo also did not show the slab is bent.
