I'm looking at a couple of Franklins on line. They're both slabbed by N.N.C. can anyone tell me about this Grading Co.? Without having the coin in front of me it's hard to know what to deduct from their grade. And I have not had any luck looking for information on them. Thank You, Dave
Judging by their website not many people have. They're a 2003 startup, so if you want to be first kid on the block with a new toy, be my guest. Personally, I'll wait until they've been around a while to see how they do.
Well....they don't have their prices anywhere on the web-site...they also have a Hotmail e-mail adddress and I don't see why because they could use their web-site address as their e-mail address, as that is easy.... Their photos are way too small-- They don't grade errors or tokens.... E-bay has some better photos and they look alright...at least they aren't grading every coin MS/PF-70!!! I think I could agree with some of the grades on the slabbed but can't be for sure... Speedy
I guess it must be time to repeat this again - it is usually not wise to purchase coins slabbed by any grading company OTHER than NGC, PCGS, ANACS or ICG - unless you can grade the coins yourself !! To do so puts you and your money at great risk !
I gave PCI one more shot because years ago, their coins seemed to be graded accurately. I just bought a 1949 MS67RD Lincoln that should have been graded MS64RB! Too many nicks and ticks to count, and it was toning! At least the seller is taking it back. His response was that I should have known that PCI coins are 2 to 3 points over graded and since I won it for $30, what did I expect? Expect?...I was hoping for a MS66 coin, but I was looking for a deal too! Anything wrong with that? Yes, sometimes you can get deals on ebay, but they are becoming too few and far between. So back it goes. GDJMSP is right! I had it! Stick with the top four. As for NNC...they started out in Michigan and now they are moving to Florida. They been around for less than two years and it appears that another company wants to get into the action. At least their coins are not all graded MS70 or PR70 like SGS. Remember, the seller Aboncom owns and operates SGS, so there is nothing 3rd partied about it.
GDJMSP I agree with you. Ed That is one reason I only have 1 PCI slab...I think this one is right--- I'm glad that this "new" company is not grading every coin PF/MS70 and maybe they will turn out to be A-OK...Everybody has to start somwhere... UPDATE---- I sent NNC a e-mail with a few questions I had...we will see if they e-mail back... So only buy the coin...not the slab--I would consided even buying a NNC slab IF I agreed with the grade... Speedy
I see on e-bay there is a seller who is selling all NNC coins and almost all on e-bay...I don't know if this is the owner of NNC or what be he sure has a lot of NNC coins...I don't know if I can list his ID so I won't but he also has 311 bad feedback... Speedy
