Denarius of Domitian looks real to me what do you think. Just trying to get a better feel at what I am looking at here.
It looks off to me. Perhaps a Lipanov. Have you looked in the fake reports for a match or similar coin? What is the weight and dimensions? Here is mine: DOMITIAN AR Denarius OBVERSE: CAESAR AVG F DOMITIANVS, laureate head right REVERSE: COS IIII, The Pegasus standing right with raising left foreleg Struck at Rome, 76AD 3.1g, 20mm RIC 921
I just finished looking at the fake reports and found 13 of them none of them matched this coin. At least half or more of the 13 fakes were the same and were Lipanov.
Sorry I don't know if the rules will let me bump this up. Please forgive me if it is not permitted. But if anyone else could give me an opinion on this coin it would be greatly appreciated. Also thank you Bing and maridvnvm for your input.
I see nice silver flow lines on the left side of obverse and the upper-right of the reverse. The coin on the left of the reverse looks a little "flaky" or corroded, which makes me believe the coin in perfectly genuine. (I am no expert.)
I've bought 4 denarii from that seller and was watching that one too, and while some of their silvers look strange I think it's a result of whatever cleaning process their inventory is subjected to, I've been watching them for months and nothing has jumped out as fake or suspicious but I'm far from an expert.
Hmmm....I'm leaning towards genuine.... How does the edge look?...You have the coin in hand circular mark next to the A obverse?
