I'm trying to find out where and when these coins were made. The first one in the pic has some kind of writing that I completely do not recognize(no...not the dime..heh) and the second I was told could date to the 16 or 1700s and has a counter stamp of sorts in the first pic at the top, the third I believe is from Egypt and may date to the 1780s but I can not find an exact match in my book and it is hard for me to read the date.., and for the forth I was told may be a cob coin from the 1600s. The guys I showed them to were just guessing so they may have been completely off so if you guys have any clue about these coins I would greatly appreciate it if you could let me know about them. Thanks Russell

The third one has the "toughra" symbol of the Ottoman Empire, so 18th Century Egypt is a definite possibility. Turkey would be the other main suspect.

The Ottoman (Turkish) coin looks to likely be an Egyptian silver 1 qirsh or maybe a copper 5 para and seems to have a 1255 date on it which would be the beginning of the reign of Abdul Mejid (1839-1861). Another number above which looks like a 2 would be the regnal year which tells the year of the reign that the coin was minted which would be 1840-1.

I checked my book again and it seems to be a almost perfect match for the Egyptian 5 para coins as you said and it is made from copper. The only thing that doesnt match with the picture in the book is that the thing under the toughra is a bit different but maybe that is just because it is so worn. I wish I could find out about the other three coins but I don't really know where to start with them.

The crude copper with the 5 petal flower design looks to be a paisa of the Indian state of Baroda, circa 1840.

Those 2 counter stamps match up like a song in my book. The coin pictured in the book looks to be a bit different with the writing but with the counter stamps there is no questioning it. So much for dating back to the 1600s huh! I've noticed that most coins I get that I can not readily identify are actually in my 2 books but with over 2600 pages total finding them is nearly an impossibility for me. That's 2 down and just 2 to go! I think the 1st one pictured may be in one of my books but the forth cobbish coin definately goes back alot further than my books do...anyways thanks for your assistance!
