wohoooo my order of 11 is placed when i receive them i will order the other 29 in little parts :goof: i will share my finds when i get them!
Laura!!!! What happened! You broke down.... and you didn't even wait for me. :goofer: Maybe you can trade Spock one of your REV 07s for a year long worth of foot massages! That is not a bad situation to be in. What a way to start out with the 2008 ASE!
Very interesting thought - and I am not implying that the mint did this intentionally, but think about how sales must have doubled ever since the variety was first mentioned in Coin World. There are people like myself who ordered two very early on, and then just ordered 5 more or Modernman who ordered 22 when he would have ordered just 10 or Sales Rep who wouldn't have even ordered at all until after he heard about the variety and now ordered two. Then there is Laura and Spock who both at least doubled their normal orders. Just between the 5 of us the mint has received at least 30 or more orders than expected - and this isn't including the countless number of other CT members who did the exact same thing. Heck, from a business stand point, each year the mint should pick an issue and just randomly insert an error or variety and let Coin World announce that an error or variety was found well into the middle of production and that only "X" number are expected to have been minted. Just think of the buying frenzy! Of course as I was typing this, the vision I got was what the baseball card industry did to try and increase sales. They randomly started to insert "autograph" cards or cards with a piece of a players shirt or other items in the packs and only limited them to an "X" number produced. I know I was buying hundreds of packs of baseball cards just to land the "lucky" card, when I probably would have only bought half of what I did. Just a little more than my two cents. Joe
I know:headbang:, jaceravone, I broke down! You know, I don't really expect to land any 2007 reverses...I think they're all gone, but I had to try just ONE more time. I was researching this "error" on google and found another coin forum called "Collectors Universe". The info I read there made me really begin to believe there may not be anything left for us in the way of these 2007 reverses. You see, the majority of dd:"those people" are ordering amounts like 100 pieces at time, or ordering small increments at a time, several times. Some of them claim to even be sitting on 85+ 2007 reverses!!!:vanish: So, my friends, I'm compelled to try one more time..... just to see what happens, then I'm reining it in. Laura
.....until someone reports that they've found the variety in the regular bullion or proof ASE. I was planning on ordering 100 from the Mint a few weeks ago, but came to the conclusion that it was greed that was driving that decision. I only wanted a few for my collection and I had already bought 2 slabbed ASE's with the variety so I really wanted one raw coin. I ended up with 2 raw 08/07 coins from the Mint, but I still ordered 2 more. Why? Well, I admit that there's a little bit of greed still in me. If I get another one I want to trade it for a gold buffalo fractional later on this year when those come out.
It appears that I probably just got bad packaging from the mint. Seems that people are still receiving the 07 reverse variety from the mint since I received my shipment. Keep looking.
i cant wait for my 11! if i get 1 all of cointalk is invited to a party down at Australia, You will all get FREE Kangaroo Rides!
I have an even more rare variety. It has both the reverse and obverse of the 2007 eagle. Anyone want it for $10000?
Just as an fyi, I went to the gift shop at the Philadelphia Mint today and bought 2 silver eagles, since I need the common reverse of 2008 for my collection. Both of the ones I purchased were this common variety.
From what I've read in the other coin forums, nobody has been getting any of the reverse variety from the Mint for orders shipped after May 7th. It may be too late to get the reverse variety from the Mint.
