Possible eBay Scam but not sure! Needs watching!

I was torn on whether to post links to this eBay Seller's auctions due to all of the negative posts about eBay bashing. However, I am concerned that this may be a scam in progress and some new and possibly older Coin Collectors alike, could suffer if I am right! Let me know what you all think.

The Seller is a relatively newcomer to eBay which has 100% Feedback with a Score of 20 Feedbacks. The Seller has sold and is selling repeats of tough and rare Date Trade Dollars and Lincoln Cents and the Feedback on his'/her' Auctions are "Private", so you can't see what item(s) the Positive Feedbacks are for. If the Seller was selling just a few tough and rare Date coins, it probably would not trigger any alarms in my mind. However, this Seller has sold and is now selling quite a few tough and rare Date coins which look a little questionable to say the least.

At the present time, I would not report the Seller's items but would keep a close watch on this Seller to see what else he or she puts up in the future and see what kind of Feedback rating they have within the next 30days or so.

Whats strikes me as strange is that his past items are the same as his current items.

It is cheaper to make several at a time.

I just did a quick check and all of the Trade Dollars I saw are obvious counterfeits. I'm going to report to Ebay now and check back here later.

I believe that all of the seller's current coin listings are counterfeit.

Someone I know contacted the seller, giving him the benefit of the doubt and telling him that his items were counterfeits. Apparently, the seller's reply was: "Mind your own business."

That doesn't sound like like the response of a seller who was unknowingly selling counterfeits.

It looks as if he is using the skull too get his trader rating up, and then throwing the coins in too mix it up a bit, and see how many people he can screw, from what i see the skulls he is selling are real (in his possession) mainly cause they are all taken with the same camera, and same back ground. so i am assuming that they are the legitimate items and the coins are the main reason he is there. (too scam people.)

Well, all of you confirmed my suspicions! I was half asleep when I checked the Seller's auctions and could not tell for sure about the coins. Since I was unsure at the time as to whether it was a scam or not, I decided to see what all of you folks would say. Thanks for the help and I am sure that there will be some Winning Bidders that are saved some big bucks!

My guess is that many of them rationalize and convince themselves that what they're doing is OK.

I also reported, but saw that the auctions went through. Someone gave the seller a neg in the few minutes before the first coin sold, brought down his rating to 95% (19/20).

The negative was given AFTER the first coin was sold.:secret:

Yes, I stand corrected, actually it was seconds after the first coin. Whoever bought it planned ahead on the feedback. Anyway, it is very unlikely the seller will appear again under this name. It shows how easy it is to run a scam with a feedback of only 20, registered for only a month. The scammer could do this many times in the space of a year. I hope at least some of the 'winners' were shill bidders.
