Oh, they gotta be coooooolllll. They gotta be driving the SUV or the big-a$$ pickup they will never use.

not everyone drives a pickup to be "cooooolll"...some actually use them for what makes the money that puts the food on the table

I drove one of those gas guzzling pickups for something like 12 years until two years ago, when it became quite impractical. It and one small car were replaced with a gas sipping mini-van.

Alrighty guys---back to the topic on hand.
The topic is a question----is gas cutting into your coin buying? When the topic goes to flamming members about what type car they drive and what YOU think....that is off topic....

No, but it does cut into my desire to drive hundreds of miles to coin shows, when you wonder that it is going to be a lousy show where you find nothing interesting. Then I resort to shopping online, those high end dealers, that cost me more than the gas I would have wasted driving to the show. :rolling:

Quitting smoking is not just a money savings on the budget, but eventually a cost savings on your health. I quit that nonsense something like over 16 years ago I think. I was a light smoker, bout a pack a week, but cigarette smoke even in light doses does the same damage.

Excuse me, whoever you are. My edited pickup is used to transport my family and my sons wheelchair. Do you have a problem with that? If my son could walk and could get into a car by himself I'd buy a smaller truck or car. Would you like to perform that miracle for me? How cool do you think all of that is. Your comment was totally uncalled for and very childish. I could have went into a rant and bashed you all to hell but that would lower me to your mental level. No thanks, I've had enough.

All enviormentalist wackjob comments should be on the PRWE forum, there, we could debate the foolishness of the energy policy without breaking any rules. New thread anyone?

I lived NYC(NEW YORK CITY) and always used public transportation. so its not foreign to me. Or to anyone who lives or has lived in a big metropolis. As for Africans without cars; yea I've seen the lives they have. PSSST, someone should get them cars. And whats wrong with carrying things in your hands for pete's sake? Heads should only have hats on them.
    Sorry, kind of drifted there.

    Gas ?

How about freight costs, anything made from petrochemical product , plastics etc. Food is taking large spikes. You do not know because the women do not like to give you more to worry about. Women handle 70+ % of the money spent in this country. Clothing etc. It would be a very short list for what has not been effected by oil prices ! Autos and trucks are appliances . They are designed to do work . Pick one that fits your needs not wants. The Europeans drive diesel cars and most keep a quality car for 20-25 years . You can drive them until you hate them. We do not build or import small diesels pickups like we use to. They would get 30 + in town and high 30s open road. With electronic injection , ECMs , pump systems and soot filters they are cleaner and pretty agile. Better mass transportation for the whole country. Coal to jet fuel.
The Air force is doing this now. They hope to have the air fleet 50% on synthetics by 2010 . They currently spend towards 6 Billion a year on fuel with no tax.
Yes it will have an impact on coin prices, and small business .
A means to get to work, having food ,and a roof over your head first.

If we would drill and refine OUR oil, WE would control the price of fuel, then we could afford more coins !!

My mum's BMW x5 burns arround 10L/100km's and my dad's Diesel Audi A4 barely uses any even though diesel is expensive here in Australia the car doesnt waste as much as cars with same engine but on gas.
i still get my right weekly payment which gets me couple of coins and also keeps my phone credit on track :D

<Sigh> I'm not picking fights. Everyone can see your original post, but I copy it below:

The price of gas ($3.69 gal. here) hasnt affected my coin buying at all and it hasnt affected any of my other activities either. My coin buying is just as strong as its ever been. As far as pubic transportation is concerned, there is none here in our little town. No buses, no cabs...nothing. As you can see in my avatar, I drive a Chevy Avalanche which gets 11.9 mpg but I only drive it to work which is about 5 miles round trip so a full tank of gas lasts me approx. 2 weeks.

You did NOT talk about a handicapped child or anything else.

You said you went back and forth to work with it.

I'm sorry but I think anyone who drives a car that gets 10 mpg is KILLING our future. I'm not talking about businesses or vehicles for people with handicaps.

I am sorry for offending you and I have to admit that I'm not sure why I'm apologizing because I didn't offend your son or whatever in the first place.

    Please read messages before flaming!!!

The last mint error(2007 reverse on 2008 silver eagle) makes me wonder if these are on purpose. They claim the high & low leaf Wisconsin quarters were the result of doctored dies(from what i have read anyway). That is one reason my buying is down. The gas prices are high, but my interest in coins is negatively effected by soaring amount of mint products.
