We had the State Quarters Run. Now we have the America the Beautiful Series.....What do you think will be next? Or what would you like to see as a series. I would like to see an animal themed issue.....like State Birds or Animals....Maybe even endangered species series.

You asked our opinions, so here’s mine.

We need another special quarters series about like we need a hole in the head.

I actually like the fact that the quarter has different designs each year. It keeps it interesting and keeps me interested. I like FDR, Lincoln, and Jefferson, but I'll probably be looking at the same coin for the next 20+ years and if they do change it, then it will probably be that for another 30.

Now, do we need 5 new designs every year? No. But the alternative of possibly 1 design for the next several decades is worse in my opinion.

I agree with you TY. The different designs keep it interesting, and brings new people into the hobby. Look at the frenzy with the W quarters. I think the mint should do things to promote the hobby. Wouldn't it be cool if the mint mixed in some silver planchet sheets with the clad sheets, so you would get a couple million silver coins with the business strikes direct into circulation? I bet collectors would have a great time looking for those.

Come on guys, there is nothing better than Cats on coins!
But seriously, maybe 3 or 4 new quarters year instead of the five would be better.
Something to mess with, but not overwhelm.

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

With 55 coins in a series, you don't want to drag it out too long. 11 years for a series is already long enough! There might be some excitement the first couple of years, but almost everyone gets bored by the end. People were really excited the first few years of the State quarters, but then got bored by the end. People got a little excited for the America the Beautiful quarters at the beginning, but interest faded even faster for those (although, many would argue that these are significantly better than the state quarters). With these new Innovation Dollars, I'm hearing a huge sigh of apathy.... I can only image how bored people will be at the end of that series!

  10. I like the state and ATB quarter series. They do keep things interesting. And I think the silver proof versions are really beautiful and worthwhile to collect. But I agree that five issues each year can be overwhelming, and trying to do 50+ coins per series just seems like too much. I like the idea of the American Innovation series, but haven't really seen much come of it yet. One thing I don't like is they only have each innovator's signature in cursive and it's basically unreadable. (unless I'm mistaken, maybe they're written out on the rims like how the presidential dollar coins have rim text.) Just makes it hard to read and distinguish who the coin is actually supposed to be commemorating. I think the idea is great, I just haven't really seen it go anywhere yet, certainly doesn't seem to be appealing to collectors. Same goes for the new Sacagawea coins with the different reverse designs, kinda cool, but as far as I know they're all clad and don't really hold any value for most collectors.

As for quarter series, just the other day I was thinking about this. I like the animal idea, not necessarily doing one from each state, but featuring various animals native to the country or maybe focusing on our endangered species. Another idea I had was maybe artists, whether one from each state or not, to recognize the cultural contributions of our authors, painters, architects, musicians, etc. Dunno if either of these will ever happen or what the next plan is for the US Mint when the ATB series is up.

I remember not seeing anything new come out of the mint for decades and was excited when the state quarter series started. I believe the state quarters did a lot to prop up numismatics. But I feel the excitement is used up. Enough already. If a man eats a ribeye steak every day for ten years... A hot dog starts to look pretty darned good. I am all used up of the quarter series myself. Give me a few years of hot dogs again please.

Well Meow CRHs everyday, so having new items to hunt for is great. Innovation Dollars are not circulated, so Meow has zero interest in them. It just Meow feels five quarters a year was just a little too much.
