Howdy fellow coin peeps, :thumb: I bid on a coin tonight and with 15 seconds to go, it was around $21.00 so I made a $51.00 snipe bid but someone else out sniped me and got it for $52.00. The coin in question is/was a 1839 Large Cent and I believe it was a Booby Head variety and a Newcomb 15 to boot(Rare). Since the Booby Head variety looks so similar to me, I thought there was a possibility I was wrong on my identification so I figured I'd stick it in here and get you all to weigh in on if I let a good one slip through my fingers because I thought I had it with more than double the current bid at the end or did I get lucky someone out sniped my snipe? Here's the auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330233532507&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBUAA:US:1123 And here are the varieties to choose from (if you don't have a book): http://www.coinfacts.com/large_cent...839_large_cents/1839_large_cent_varieties.htm Ribbit
The N-15 is listed with a pic on CoinFacts (link provided in OP). As to figuring it out, I too was going crazy trying to figure out which one it was? Those Booby Heads make my head feel like a booby head, although it may be said I was already a booby head before that occurred. Ribbit
