Whats up guys, I came across a Lowell quarter that has an obverse that is copper colored, but not like you usually see them, it is much more golden than straight copper. When I look at the rim I see the coper part pushed to the obverse and the clad on the reverse, this leads me to believe I have found a quarter that is missing the clad layer on the obverse. what are your opinions?

My guess.. It was face down in a car cup holder with spilled soda.. The soda toned one side.

It's toned on one side. With the right chemicals it can tone very fast.

    ...right @Cheech9712 !

There are myriad ways that coins can tone, and some toning doesn't take that long.

Thats a nice coin right there, hopefully I will find one of those one day. It was just toned. looked legit at first glance.

When it is missing a clad layer on one side, first thing is weigh it.
If it weighs normal (5.67g) it's not missing a clad layer.
Also when it is missing a clad layer the copper will usually be VERY BRIGHT.
Here is a partial missing clad layer. Compare it to your coin.

I think I might actually have found a quarter missing a clad layer though, could be environmental damage.
