Can anyone tell me when the mint will let us order the new nickels? They are due for release on 2/28/05. Norm

Why order them when you can get them at the bank soooo much cheaper??

You all let me know just how many you find at a bank as they will be far and few. The bulk of these buffalo's will find there way into the dealer network and, if a few do find a bank, they will be hoarded by the roll very very quickly. There is absolutely no chance of getting a roll of these new nickels at a bank in this area. It didn't happen with the two 2004 nickels so I can guarantee you these will be much much harder to locate at $2.00 per roll. Wish you all luck and do let us know if you find any!

What happens when there isn't another bank within 100 miles that might have such rolls. This isn't right next door to Wall Street and we don't have bankers running up and down the street giving money away. Kind of nice this way! ;)

Order the roll from the Mint and you won't be disappointed. As for me, I'm ording a lot of them from the Mint to give as presents and such. Especially to the kids who won't have much of an opportunity to see them in cicrulation. I believe the coins are going o be hoarded TREMENDOUSLY!

Yup. this would be the safest way. I know I got my keel boat roll at the bank and I can get the sac dollar too but how long they last who knows. And probably I was lucky. Dont know about the peace nickel since I dont like the design so I didnt ask.

I'm not taking any chances this time around and I'm ordering from the Mint. I didn't order the Peace design when it came out thinking I could save money and could pick them up later on my own. When I realized my mistake it was too late and they weren't available at the mint any longer. I then had to go to ebay to get 2 "mint-wrapped" rolls and I'm not even going to tell what I paid for them!

Well Old Dan--when you live in a town with 20+ banks within driving or walking distance...I should have though about some that don't have that....

    I tell ya'll what....
IF I get the rolls at the bank, I will try to get a few too offer them on the Open Forum--

Excellent idea Speedy, these would be nice for the contest held every week. You could sponsor a few of these and have the nickels as the prize.

Speedy put me on your list! You must live in a pretty nice size town and with a very large banking area and that is what it takes to get to those new coins. Any bank that receives direct transfer (large bank) from the Federal Reserve by way of armored car should have them and THAT my friend is what RULES out most banks and branch banks. They just funnel their old rolls of money back and forth and most of them have never seen a new roll of statehood quarters, let alone and roll of new nickels. Keep us posted on this one!

Although a country boy at heart, there are advantages to living in a big city (although calling Louisville big when you've lived in suburban DC is a stretch). I see both of last year's nickels, and from both mints (although Denver is more common), on a more or less daily basis. That's one of the few things I'm not looking forward to when I take a church in a small town.

I have only found 1 Denver ment one. All the othere I have found were from Philidelphia. But I have found a lot, and got a roll of each one. And I also live in a town with a lot of banks, lot of competition. Everytime a new bank is built, a different bank will be put up across the street or right next to it lol.

Yep...and it also helps when you have longtime friends working at the banks....last time they asked if I wanted them to order nickels because they didn't know if they would and thought if I wanted them they would go ahead and get some---I'll keep you posted...

Well down here in this part of the Bluegrass all we get is P's....I have a few guys I trade with and get the D's---the only time I got D's was OH and back then I wasn't even collecting rolls....I just started about 1 1/2 years ago....I can remember getting rolls of BU H/T Tenn and just spending them bacuse I wanted the older states---Oh well...
